At the heart of all stories is human experience, and I’ve always thought war stories in particular highlight humanity stripped to its rawest form. In my upcoming release, ONCE MORE UNTO THE BREACH, I explore a number of relationships: the love between a father and a son, the ties of a first love, the bonds forged in hardship and danger. For in our crudest form, we cling to contact, to one another. In that aspect, war stories are always about relationships, not merely heroism and horror.
